Department of Ophthalmogy ,S. Nijalingappa Medical College, Shri Hangal Kumareshwar Hospital and Research Centre,   was established in 2002. 

Department of Ophthalmology conducts eye camps monthly three to four at rural areas and more than 1000 cataract surgeries were done per year under DBCS Department of Ophthalmology has been up dated with modern equipments to provide eye care facilities to the needy.   BVV Eye Bank and Cornea Centre under S. Nijalingappa Medical College, Shri Hangal Kumareshwar Hospital and Research Centre, Bagalkot  established in 2002.    It has been registered by Government of Karnataka “The transplantation of Human organization 1994”  So for abut 12000 persons eye pledged, 172 eyes collected for four years and used for Keratoplasty.  We are also providing eye care facilities under following scheme.

4. Government Employs Reimbursement Scheme.
5. Bala Sanjeevani Government of Karnataka.
