Pharmacology is the “study of the responses of living organisms to chemical stimuli”
Word pharmakon -> drug and logy -> study
Various branches of Pharmacology includes
Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Chemotherapy, Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology,
Pharmacogentics, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacoeconomics
Pharmacology is uniquely positioned among the medical sciences as it contributes all other branches of medicine.
Mission/Vision
- To be a distinguished unit, in the field of pharmacology by providing excellent teaching and training of the undergraduates and postgraduates.
- Stressing on evidence based medicine and rational used of drugs.
- In addition, enhancement and improvement of the research activities in the field of pre-clinical and clinical pharmacology.

Academic activities
Theory teaching for undergraduate students – MBBS & BDS
Conducting practical- experimental pharmacology, dispensing pharmacy and clinical pharmacology
Seminars by the undergraduate students, tutorials, part completion tests, internal assessments and preparing for theory viva.
Integrated teaching involving other departments on selected topics
Regular seminar and journal club by the postgraduate students.
