Departmental information

Overview of the department

Human Physiology is the study of normal functioning of the human body. It tells us how organs and systems within the body functions, how they communicate, how they combine their efforts to make conditions favourable  for survival.

Department of physiology offers various teaching – learning methodologies, so that student has the best of the knowledge of physiology during his course, so that he can be a competent physician tomorrow.

“Physiology is, in a sense, the central discipline of the medical school. It is the business of the physician to restore normal functioning.”

  • Abraham Flexner.

The Department of physiology has all the equipments and facilities as per the guidelines laid down by the NMC. The department has well-equipped  Haematology Laboratory, Clinical Laboratory, Human Laboratory, Amphibian Laboratory,  Mammalian  Laboratory, Museum, Yoga cell, Research Laboratory, Computer assisted Laboratory. These laboratories have the equipments to  cater to the needs of both Under-Graduate and Post Graduate students. It has the facilities aiding the research activities for the students like: Computerised Spirometer, Digital ECG, TMT machine, Animal Experiment machines, Reaction time analyser, HRV machine.

Our Air – conditioned library offers,  latest edition Textbooks of Physiology, monograms, textbooks of other interdisciplinary branches,  and subscription to standard Journals.

Vision of department

To inspire, encourage and provide excellent knowledge, skills, attitude and values to students in Physiology.

Mission of department

To lay the strong foundation of physiological understanding on functioning of human body to students, which they can extend in future to  become competent doctors in patient care.
