Overview of Department:

The department of Obstetrics & Gynecology was established in 2002. It is multi unit team committed to excellence in service, education & research . Department caters to the health care needs of women & is one of the tertiary referral centre in the area for both antenatal and gynecological problems.

The department is adequately staffed with well equipped labour room, obstetric ICU, operation theaters including endo surgery OT. It also has compact but elaborate museum with plenty of charts, specimens and models. Students are happy to learn the practical skills related to subject on zoe models and also in skill lab.

Facilities & Services Provided by Department:

S.N. Medical College is premier institute catering needs of the poor & needy public from in & around bagalkot & neighboring district. Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology provides complete obstetrical care , comprehensive family welfare, Infertility management, Endoscopic surgeries & menopause management, High Risk pregnancies are very well managed community services are also being provided like adolescent education, Anaemia prevention, Cancer Screening throughout the year.

Obstetrics & Gynecology department renders yeoman service around the clock. We are also involved in teaching, Research work besides treating the poor ones, 24 hour’s obstetric services rendered in this department is the best possible work to bring down maternal & perinatal mortality.

Infrastructure of the Department:

We have excellent infrastructure with advanced equipments like laparoscopy, colposcopy, TVS with Doppler, 16slice CT Scan & MRI. Endotrainer is made available for training the students in laparoscopy. OBG Department has a high-tech digital library where in various procedures by stalwarts in the field can be demonstrated to students. Our departmental library is well furnished with more than 100 references books ant text books. The Department is provided with internet facilities for staff and students to download and upgrade their knowledge every now and them.
