Department of Community Medicine Departmental Information Overview of the department Department of Community Medicine was formally established in 2001 in the institute. Since its inception, it has been one of the key departments for the institute. It aimed to develop a feasible pattern of healthcare delivery for the population. The department also sought to provide community health orientation to various activities of the institute. The department started MD Programme in 2009. The department is been playing a significant role in the control of pandemic of COVID 19 and also started vaccination centre for the general public. The department of Community Medicine is primarily located in the college building, equipped with research laboratory space in ground floor and a laboratory in the 1st floor for teaching undergraduates and postgraduates. The department is involved in the following activities:
It includes UG and MD courses. The department is also involved in training of various categories of health care professionals/ workers as well as education of general public.
The department provides comprehensive health care to population of nearly 50,000. The services in the form of two health centres
The department has made a significant contribution in research and development.

The department caters urban slum population of around 52,268 with just 4 km away from the college near Shishuvihaar School, Bagalkote. Services offered: OPD, IPD Day-care, basic hematological and biochemical tests, Health Education activities in the field, health camps; Days observed:
